In 2023-2024, Scott took over a portal project for Achieving the Dream (ATD). ATD provides coaching services to community colleges across the country via roughly 100 coaches. ATD needed to revamp their portal where coaches could manage their coaching assignments and submit required documents and reports. ATD had invested $100,000 with a major consulting firm and had gotten nothing usable, with the consulting firm asking for more money beyond the budget to complete the project. ATD turned to Embrace Your Data to rescue the project.
Starting almost from scratch, Scott rebuilt the portal to organizational requirements using Salesforce Screen Flows, Lightning Web Components, and standard Salesforce Experience Cloud and display elements. Features of the Coach Portal include:
- A listing of a coach’s current, future and past assignments, including the ability to accept future assignments and fulfill current assignments by filling out reports of varying complexity.
- The most complex fulfillment report is the Engagement Report, a multi-page screen flow with embedded Lightning Web Components, skip logic and required document uploads. This information in this report was previously being collected via an external survey tool; moving to screen flows with all data stored in Salesforce has improved access to and use of the information.
- Ability to update personal contact information.
- Access to a document library and contact directory for only those institutions that the coach is working with.
- Ability to submit contact information changes for contacts at assigned colleges, which is reviewed internally before being applied to account and contact records.
